Sick notes

If you’ve been off sick for more than 7 days

We can issue a certificate for an illness if we have information that you have consulted a health professional. It could be from another clinic or hospital. If we have no record that you have seen a medical professional about your illness, you will not be able to get a certificate without an appointment.

If you need to book an appointment, please note this needs only a routine appointment; urgent appointments are only provided for genuine medical emergencies and not for the purpose of certificates.

To request a sick note:

If you’ve been off sick for 7 days or less

If you’re off work sick for 7 days or less, your employer should not ask for medical evidence that you’ve been ill. Instead, they can ask you to confirm that you’ve been ill. You can do this by filling in a form yourself when you return to work. We call this self-certification.
